In the summit there was an underlying evil though, the oil shortage. This shortage was definitely worth bargaining and trying to solve because if we didn't we wouldn't last that long. Think about it, almost everything that we use has some product of oil in it, whether it be gasoline, plastic, or even our clothing! Oil really is everywhere and I'm not really surprised that we haven't run out already.
This does make me wonder though, is the government focusing as much as they can on this crisis. I believe that they're focusing on thing that don’t need our time right now. Even if they're putting all their time into this crisis, why hasn't anything been settled? The oil supply is a ticking time bomb and there hasn't even been a single hydroelectric car on the market yet! That’s what I find funny about this exercise, we somehow came to an agreement in a half hour while the government can't even do anything in months. I realize that there’s all those little annoying agreements that the government has to follow, but it wasn't as though we broke whole lot of rules. We didn't just dish out money for the hell of it and say “Do whatever you want with this money, we don’t car!” We made sure that the people we were lending money to had a good cause and reason.
Going back to the exercise, I found that the amount of bargaining was extremely interesting. You could get so enwrapped in one of the bargains that you’d look back up at the clock and see that it’s already been ten minutes. Also the agreements that were founded could be quite comical and almost absurd, an example would be when China bought all of Nigeria’s coastline to build 10,000 windmills. The problem with that is that it would never happen. If China bought the whole coast, it would probably start some controversy. But that only adds to the realism of the exercise, there’s going to be controversy in government, no matter what.
The exercise was fun, thrilling and extremely clutching. I don't think there was a single silent moment in the whole thing which means that everybody was enthralled. I can't wait till the next summit because I'll be able to unfurl my argumentative wings once more. Also I really hope that it goes as well as this one.
