I don’t want to imply that it’s a burden to memorize a single poem. I went in with a positive mindset, and I chose a poem, Apologia Pro Poemeta Mio, by Wilfred Owen, that really touched me in the way it described the horrors of war being endured by a young man. But, what I found was that it was a REALLY hard poem to memorize. The lines of the poem flow to the reader, but don’t flow off of your tongue.
Overall it went as usual. I felt as though I finally got it down pat, then completely forgot it right when I was about to present it. That’s how it went the last two years, that’s how it went today.
Now all I have to do is to finish a 4 page social studies essay that’s due tomorrow. I can’t wait. :)
